Bring It.

Our 2019 WHY

So it’s February….but that’s okay; we are working on some exciting things for Bring It and they tend to take time.

February for us is BODY LOVE month.  We speak to so many women and girls of varying ages who have some form of body image issue. This can range from:

  • Looking in the mirror a lot and seeing only perceived flaws.
  • Putting oneself down/ picking out the negatives of one’s body.
  • Working out with ONLY losing weight in mind – and doing it furiously.
  • Constantly weighing
  • ….Right up to eating disorders.

Body Image has always been a motivation behind Bring It; a wish to help people love completely who they are; the body that allows them to do so much and not feeling pressured by the world’s view today.

And that’s a problem: how the world DOES put pressure on girls and women (actually….everyone) to look “perfect”. Look at insta page after insta page of “beautiful” people. How are our girls….how is anyone to feel good about themselves when this is pushed in their faces constantly?

Social Media is here to stay; and we at BI are not here to put it down, after all we are able to promote what we do so much farther than without it. But what we HAVE noticed, is that our youth, our kids are finding the challenges many.  We want to help offer help to our young on how to embrace social media; how to have it as part of their lives in a way that doesn’t cause anxiety/ depression; that doesn’t make them feel any less of a person; that doesn’t have them want to change all that is great about them.

We want to teach them to control their emotions from social media use, rather than the other way around.

Do we have all the answers? Heck no.  Are we open to advice? Heck yes. But if there’s one thing we’ve learnt as we have stepped on this journey of “Bring It” is we aren’t the only ones noticing the pressures and we aren’t the only ones wanting to help our young.

SO this year we are focussing on:

  • Body Positivity
  • Social Media
  • Mindfulness/ Stress-Management
  • Wellness

We may not be able to change the world; but we can certainly put our effort into impacting our little corner of the world 🙂
